Ryan Sanden Teaches Tango to Ballroom Students

Ryan Sanden is an alumni of Arizona State University, graduating #1 of his class in the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering with his Electrical Engineering Bachelors. During his free time, Ryan studied Chinese and took classes in Ballroom dancing. He has been a ballroom dancer throughout college and once was a partner of Ms. Sun in an ASU Latin Dance competition in Salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba, and Merengue. He came two days teaching and performing with Ms. Sun Tango and Salsa, also sharing with students the social and competitive aspect of dance. Students liked Ryan and thought he looked like" the guy from Titanic".

Thank you for teaching us!

Students from the Arizona State University's Dance Department Visits Herrera Twice

Herrera has been connecting with several Arizona State University dance students and alumni. This time a whole class of students from ASU taught lessons to our dance students. With our 4th and 5th graders, they taught creative dance. With the junior high in Ballroom class, they taught Salsa. Then they taught some Hip Hop choreography at another visit to the junior high Hip Hop class. Each time they also did a little performance showing students what they can do if they continue dance in the University.

Students had a blast and cannot wait for ASU to come back again!

Student's First Dance Performance

The performance was very nice! I, myself, couldn't have put together a dance performance featuring 75+ students. The students and I were blessed to have several wonderful teachers that take time out of their busy lives to practice with these
young performers and help them prepare for the dance performance.

The Dance Club and I would like to give special thanks to the following teachers that volunteered their time after school:

Arturo De La Cruz
Mariah Rand
Taucia Gonzalez
Robin Azersky
Veronica Amavisca
Samantha Stewart
Nicole Bistany
Carmen Gore

We would also like to thank La Sheena Adams for helping run the Dance Club during the performance and helping the students after school. As well as, Basilia, Hector, and all the custodians for making the cafeteria and stage nice; Coach Wooten for being flexible and letting us use her T.V. and stereo; and Lily Angulo for trading Ms.Sun classrooms allowing the students to practice on the stage during class.

Ms. Garcia also had her wonderful first & second graders perform. Their
Aztec dance was a nice addition to the performance.

Thank you all so much!
